Interior designer Molly McLean knows how to draw attention to a great vanity ("Vanity Fair," May/June 2008). Follow her tips for creating high style above the sink.

Vintage mirrors make a statement over the bath vanity. Use a square mirror found at an antique shop or a round mirror often found with dressers from the art deco period. Many times you can find a mirror separately at vintage and antique shops. Make sure to rub a stain or furniture polish over small knicks if you have a vintage find.

Lighting is essential in the bathroom and needs to provide function as well as aesthetic appeal. Add outdoor lanterns on each side of the mirror for a unique approach.

Add a bit of nostalgia to your dressing space by using vintage colored glass wares in three different sizes to house toiletries such as Q-tips, cotton balls and tissues.
